What If?

Post by growup »

What if Kitt was placed on it's roof. Would he be able to right himself without any help?

maybe he would use Auto roof left and auto roof right because they open UP like _ .. then use his doors.. and maybe Turbo boost.. because he

We know in reality that the tops open out but, in the show I can't recall ever seeing the tops actually open. They were either there or not. I still think that KITT when on his roof would be much like a turtle, basically trapped

James Bond flipped his car back over using the mechanical roof parts in the last Bond film.

The tops have opened in the show, usually when the ejection set was used. Sometimes it raised vertically, others it retracted.

I'm sure if it ever happened, the crafty writers would have created a feature on KITT that we never knew he had that allowed him to return upright.

lol! Great question. The image of KITT on his roof revvin' his engine and trying to use each of his funtions to turn himself right-side-up again sent me into a fit of giggles... but I agree, either they would've never put KITT in a situation like that or would've come up with something we never thought KITT had...

In a comic I found on the web makin' fun of KR, KITT tripped over a pothole and landed on his roof lol but he had a button labeled "flap-jack" that magically flipped him back over lol.

I forgot about the "flap-jack" button! Good one, SI.

There just isn't a whole lot KITT could do...that we have seen.

It may be possible that wherever that parachute came out at could also contain some micro-explosive powerful enough to flip KITT. But, I highly doubt that.

It may also be possible that use of the wenches could eventually drag KITT somewhere where flipping becomes a possibility.

I could even see the writers bending the laws of physics by making KITT's turbine system go into reverse and sucking in so much air that he 'magically' floats.

But, I do think the most likely possibilities come down to two...

1) KITT (without occupent inside) pressurizes the cab into an incredibly high amount of PSI, suddenly bursting it through a quickly opened T-Top. (The novel spoke of how quickly KITT's windows could open and close. (Something not possible to do in the show, itself.) Which makes more sense when Tanya fires on Michael, only to hit herself. Because the window was open when she started to squeeze the trigger. But, it fully closed as the bullet started to explode.)

2) KITT calls the semi for help and remains in that position.

I really think that if KITT just tried to TB, we'd only see a prime example of a break dancing car. :D

Maybe KITT can pop his own hood quickly enough and with enough force to toss him back right-side-up.

Interesting question! In "Goliath" K.I.T.T was placed on it´s side and in that case it was possible to recover using turbo boost (if I recall correctly). In this "on the roof"-case I don´t think recovering would be that easy. Of course, if there would be Michael with K.I.T.T he might propably be able to turn K.I.T.T right way around if everything goes well. But if K.I.T.T is alone then the situation is bad - really bad!

Wouldn't Michael just call FLAG and have the semi pull KITT back over?

Very good point, Knight8815! I didn´t think of that. Of course, sometimes in the episodes when K.I.T.T has been hit by something or been turned sideways etc. the phone doesn´t work. In that case Michael must deal the problem by himself.

The wonders of modern technology... Besides, have you stop to think about how KITT will feel, when he would actually get stuck like this? I think he'd feel pretty miserable. The poor thing.
