This theme music is cool, though it probably would've been better if they took more of the original theme. We only hear a few seconds of the original theme at the beginning : not enough.

I would also like to have more of the original theme. The problem is the classic theme is very much a late 70s / early 80s hybrid. It doesn't work today and, for a general audience, a trance / electro remix is out of the question.

We should see the fact that it draws from the classic theme as a nod to us. Actually, the new Rambo did exactly that -- classic theme in the begginging, new score afterwards.

Exactly. I think it could've been better if there was more of the original theme in it. My favorite part of the new theme is the first 5 seconds...
I mean the original theme is really, really cool. I'm not against new things (hell the original theme on the new KR would seem so wrong indeed, it would have to be redone), but I like when there is a good part of the original inside (I mean, keep most of the melody and not just the first few notes). They sure could've easily done a remix that sounds a lot like the new theme.

For those who don't remember, here is a sample of one of the original theme variations. I just recorded it from season 1 episode 8 : "No Big Thing".
